IFS Therapy in Exton and Philadelphia, PA
What is Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)?
IFS Therapy is Transformative
Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a transformative evidence-based therapy that says we are all made up of a core Self and different inner parts, almost like an internal family, with each part holding different roles. The core Self is a confident, compassionate, whole person that resides within us all. The inner parts can include internal wounds, protectors, feelings, beliefs and more.
IFS Therapy Helps Us Connect
IFS says there are no bad parts. Basically, every part has a positive intent and is trying to protect us. This is true even if that part sometimes behaves in ways that are in conflict with other parts, our core Self, and/or are counterproductive. IFS helps us to connect to and understand these internal parts so we can heal their wounds and restore mental balance and harmony.
Internal Family Systems Therapy: Our Inner Parts
what can i expect?
You will collaborate with your therapist to identify the parts that make up your internal system. Then your therapist will teach you tools and guide you in releasing any burdens that your parts may be carrying like shame, anger, guilt or negative beliefs about self, others, and the world at large. At the end, you’ll feel like you have a deeper understanding of your Self and parts and the tools and confidence to manage future concerns and conflicts.
who is this for?
IFS is great for anyone willing and open to exploring their internal landscape or family. With the support of your therapist, you can find mental and emotional relief from a variety of concerns.
